[...] It’s always been said that Americans love the open road. Ben Fry has illustrated just how much with his map entitled “All Streets” of the Lower 48 states solely through the symbolization of roads. With 26 million roads segments, the outlines of lakes and features of mountains becomes apparent as the roads are aligned to avoid them. The map takes on a secondary meaning with sparsely populated areas laid bare by the paucity of roadwork and the more populated areas of the United States cluttered with pavement.
